See money in vs money out, across every account

Your money lives in a checking account, two cards, and maybe a joint account — so no single banking app can tell you whether last month was actually net positive. Skycopia merges every connected account into one month-by-month ledger of income vs expenses, filters out the transfers between your own accounts, and lets you click any number to see the transactions behind it.

Why "did we come out ahead last month?" is so hard to answer

Each bank app shows you one account. Your paycheck lands in checking, most spending happens on two credit cards, the card payment moves money between them, and a monthly transfer tops up savings. Add it all up naively and the same dollars get counted two or three times — the card payment looks like spending, the savings transfer looks like spending, and the money arriving in savings looks like income.

That's why most people's mental model of their cash flow is a vibe, not a number. And vibes drift: a few subscription price bumps, a creeping grocery bill, and a month that felt fine quietly ran negative.

The fix isn't a budget you have to maintain. It's a ledger built from what actually happened: real income, real expenses, one month at a time, with the internal shuffling stripped out. That's what Skycopia's cash-flow view is.

One ledger, every account, nothing to maintain

There's no data entry and no categorizing homework. Connect the accounts once and the cash-flow view builds itself from your real transaction history.

  1. 1

    Connect your accounts, read-only

Link checking, savings, and cards through Plaid. Skycopia can see transaction history — it can never move money. Free in private beta, no card required.

  2. 2

    Get one merged monthly ledger

Every deposit and every charge across every connected account lands in a single month-by-month view: income, expenses, and the net. Transfers between your own accounts and investment shuffles are filtered out so the totals mean something.

  3. 3

Click into anything that looks off

Every figure drills into the real transactions behind it — a month's income, a category's total, one account's spending. If a number surprises you, two clicks show you exactly why.

The views, concretely

The top of the page is the headline: total income, total expenses, net savings, and your average monthly spend, next to a month-by-month chart of income vs expenses. Below it, a monthly breakdown table where every figure is clickable — the point isn't to trust the numbers, it's to be able to verify them.

Then the spending side gets sliced every way that's actually useful: by category, by account (which card is the money really leaving from?), by merchant, by day of the week, by purchase size (a few big charges, or death by $18 swipes?), plus your biggest single transactions and — on the income side — a ranked list of where the money comes from.

If something looks off, the same page surfaces insights from your history — like a category whose spend is quietly creeping up month over month — and lets you set a monthly limit on a category or merchant so the observation turns into a decision.

The honest part: this is a rearview mirror, not a crystal ball

Skycopia's cash flow is built from transactions that already happened. It won't forecast next month, simulate a raise, or tell you whether you can afford a car. The analysis also windows to your last 24 months of history — when older transactions exist, the page says so plainly rather than silently pretending the window is everything.

And transfer filtering is a heuristic, not magic: it relies on how transactions are categorized, so an oddly-labeled transfer can slip into the totals. That's exactly why every number is a drilldown — if a month looks wrong, you can open it, see the offending transaction, and exclude it. We'd rather give you verifiable numbers with an escape hatch than confident numbers you can't inspect.

FAQ

How is this different from just checking my bank balance?

A balance is a snapshot; cash flow is the movie. Your checking balance on any given day mixes together paychecks, rent, a credit-card payment, and a transfer to savings — it can look healthy the day after payday and alarming the day before. Skycopia's cash-flow view sums what actually came in and what actually went out each month, across every connected account, so you can see whether a month was net positive or negative and by how much — and click any number to see the exact transactions behind it.

Do transfers between my own accounts count as income or spending?

No — and this is the part most spreadsheets get wrong. Moving $1,000 from checking to savings isn't spending, and it landing in savings isn't income, but a naive sum counts it as both. Skycopia filters out flagged transfers between accounts and financial-category noise like investment moves, brokerage transfers, loan payments, and credit-card payments, so the income and expense totals reflect real money in and real money out rather than money shuffling between your own pockets.

What exactly do I see on the cash-flow page?

A month-by-month chart of income vs expenses, headline totals for income, expenses, net savings, and average monthly spend, and a monthly breakdown table where every figure is clickable — click a month's income number and you see the actual deposits behind it. Below that, spending breaks down by category, by account, by merchant, by day of week, and by purchase size, and there's a ranked list of your top income sources and biggest single transactions. Every number drills into real transactions; nothing is estimated.

Can it track cash flow across multiple banks and cards?

Yes — that's the point. You connect each institution read-only through Plaid, and Skycopia merges the transaction history into one ledger. The spend-by-account breakdown then shows which card or account the money actually leaves from, which is often a surprise in households where one card quietly carries most of the spending. Read-only means Skycopia can see transactions but can never move money or make changes.

How much does it cost?

Skycopia is free while in private beta — no card required to sign up. Connecting a bank is read-only via Plaid, and you can disconnect at any time. We don't invent pricing tiers we haven't built; if that changes after beta, existing users will hear it from us first.

Stop guessing. See the ledger.

Skycopia reads your bank history read-only and turns it into one month-by-month picture of money in vs money out — every number clickable down to the transaction.
