What Sky can — and can't — access
Connecting a bank is the moment most people hesitate, so here's the whole arrangement in plain terms. Skycopia connects through Plaid, the same service Venmo and Robinhood use, and the access is read-only. Your bank login never touches our servers.
Sky can
✓ See your transactions
Date, merchant, amount, and category — that's how Sky finds recurring charges.
✓ See account names & types
"Chase Checking …4821" — the name, type, and last 4 digits, so you know which account a charge is on.
✓ Get notified of new charges
So Sky can flag a price hike or a subscription that came back after you cancelled it.
Sky can't
✕ See your bank login
Credentials are entered with Plaid or your bank directly — they never touch Skycopia's servers.
✕ Move money
The connection is read-only. Sky can't initiate transfers or payments of any kind — the access simply doesn't allow it.
✕ Change anything at your bank
No settings, no cards, no accounts. Sky reads; it never writes.
✕ Sell or share your data
No advertisers, no data brokers, and your transactions are never used to train AI.
Who is Plaid?
Plaid is the bank-connection service used by Venmo, Robinhood, Chime, and thousands of other financial apps. When you link a bank, you log in with Plaid (or your bank's own OAuth screen) — Skycopia only ever receives the resulting read-only transaction data.
Can I disconnect later?
Yes, any time, from Settings. Disconnecting revokes access at Plaid immediately and stops all future data retrieval. You can also delete your entire account and all data yourself, instantly.
How is my data stored?
Encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, isolated per household with database-level row security. Access to production data is restricted to personnel who need it to operate the service.
What if I'd rather not connect a bank at all?
You don't have to. Upload a CSV export from your bank instead — Sky finds your subscriptions the same way, and no connection of any kind is made.
